Mommy & Me Easter Egg Hunt

At our mommy and me class on Tuesday we had an Easter egg hunt.
It was difficult trying to take the video and assist Zek in the hunt.
It was so cute to see him search for the eggs,
eat the contents and throw the egg back on the ground.

It's Spring!

We have been wanting to plant grass in our backyard for a while.
Previously half the backyard was all dirt and weeds.
Last year we started pulling up the weeds and realized our efforts were in vain if not attacked immediately before new weeds grew.
So we first killed all the weeds using roundup.
Then we used a rototiller on the yard to break up the ground.
We found so many things in the ground including, TONS of broken glass and ceramic, broken bottles, cans, marbles, wires, a toy helicopter, an old wrench, brick, metal pieces etc.
Trash can after trash can was empty each week with weeds and other waste.

Our parents Rick and Nancy came one Saturday last week and help us plant grass seed.
It was so awesome that they came to help because we got so much done in one day!
We first leveled out the ground.
Then we brought in a truck load of soil and spread that around.
After that we spread out the grass seed evenly.
Then we spread out a layer of nitrate manure mix on top to cover the seed and protect it.
We hooked up a couple hoses with an automatic timer set to water the seed four times a day.
We blocked off sections for flower beds and a sand box, so no grass will grow in those areas.

Week 0

Robert and his parents spreading the seed.

We set up the watering system.

 Week 1

After just one week grass starting growing!

And we added some other things to our backyard too!

Wilson Park

On a Saturday early last month we went to Wilson park in Torrance with
our friends the Greiners and played some paddle tennis and hung out at the park.
Zek was still a pretty new walker so he was getting a lot of practice in.

Skirball Cultural Center

We went with our sister/auntie Kristen to the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles in early February.
We spent most of our time visiting the Noah's Ark display.
It's a nice feeling to walk into a museum and hear someone say, "you can touch anything!"
There was all kinds of animals and cool Noah's ark structures to see, feel and hear.
There was also some fun music to dance to.

Here is Zek dancing to some music:)

Here are some pictures we took...

Thanks Kristen for the fun time together!

Can you see the pretty rainbow in the background!

There were so many cool displays that you could touch!

Here Zek is loading animals on to Noah's Ark.

Zek's Words

Zek can say quite a few words.
dadda, mamma, go, going, book, hi, hello, banana, no, wee, swing, balloon
But his favorite all time word to say is BALL.
Matter of fact, ball was his first word and he uses it everyday.
Zek points at everything round or circular and calls it a ball.
If he sees sports on TV he calls it ball.
The light on the ceiling is a ball.
Old MacDonald should have had a ball!
Because it's ball ball here, and ball ball there...
Here a ball, there a ball.
Everywhere a ball ball!

Here is a cute picture of Zek and his football!
Look at him palm that thing. He's ready for the big league:)

BALL?

I caught a moment of Zek reading his book. So cute.

Zek got this cow chair for his baby shower
and he likes lounging on it.

San Luis Obispo Trip

Robert and I love visiting San Luis Obispo.
This year we decided to stay at our friends house in Morro Bay.
It was so fun to see Andrew and Sarah and spend some
time seeing the sites and eating the bites.

Here we are at Blue Sky Cafe in Morro Bay

This was Zek's very first experience with Firestones Grill. Yum!

We took a trip up the coast to see the Elephant Seals!

Andrew told us about these amazing Heart Burgers at the Hearst Ranch Winery.
They were one of the best burgers I have had! We also did a little wine tasting.

Andrew is showing Zek the tractor. Andrew should get one of those...
and I'm not talking about the tractor.

Having a good time!

We also visited Harmony Winery which is absolutely beautiful.

Andrew and Sarah are members of the winery, it's one of their favorites.
Andrew and Sarah are the best!

Here Zek is enjoying a snack at Andrew and Sarah's house.
He is rocking his Cal Poly jersey that his Grandma Nancy got him!

Here is the view from Andrew and Sarah's house.
What a view!

One thing I must say is Andrew and Sarah are such amazing hosts.
One morning they made us Ebelskivers for breakfast.
My first experience with them and loved them!
They are a danish delight stuffed with any filling you want.
Try nutell, chocolate, peanut butter, cookie butter...
